In addition, the opposition of the Old Believers to attempts to transfer their churches to the Russian Orthodox Church was characterized. In particular, the facts of the burning of Old Believers by the decision of the authorities of prayer houses in the case of their conversion to Orthodox churches, the theft of icons and liturgical books in such a situation are analyzed. In general, the religious policy of Nicholas I in relation to the Old Believers was of a harsh nature, contained a wide range of restrictions, prohibitions and a developed system of punishments for the commission of unlawful acts.
